Gangotri

One of the char dhams, Gangotri in Uttarkashi is the highest temple dedicated to Goddess Ganga. The actual origin of the river is at Gaumukh in the Gangotri glacier, 19 km away from Gangotri and is accessible by trekking.

Gomukh Trek

Nestled in Uttarakhand, the Gaumukh Tapovan trek is a 48 Km long trek that can be completed within 6 days (8 days including driving to and fro). It is a magnificent 48 km moderate to difficult trek that takes you along one of the most beautiful and mystical routes of India, all the way to the Gaumukh Glacier, the source of the holy river Ganges. This beautiful trek starts from Gangotri to Chirbasa, Bhojwasa via Gaumukh Glacier to Tapovan and is known for its steep ascent and the picturesque views of Bhagirathi peaks, Mt Meru and Mt Shivling.

Harsil Hill Station

A hidden jewel near Gangotri Dham, Harsil is a serene Himalayan hamlet surrounded by snow-clad mountains, pine forests and apple orchards. Popularly referred to as the mini Switzerland of India, time seems to have stopped in this poetic hill-station dotted with traditional houses and ancient temples.Harsil has another secret, which intrigues tourists. This was the place where legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor had shot parts of his super-hit movie Ram Teri Ganga Maili. The village post office, which was featured in the film, stands here even today, just the way it was around 40 years ago!.
